6 Steps to be certified B
Only 6 steps to become a B Corp and be part of change!
The company should be established, having invoiced for at least 6 months.
1. TAKE THE ASSESSMENT
Find the B Impact Assessment here
The B Impact Assessment, which assesses the overall impact of your company on its stakeholders, is a free online evaluation and can be revisited at anytime to allow for easy access. Depending on the company’s sector and size (number of employees), an online account with a username and password gives access to the Assessment. You will find approximately 100 questions that reach different areas of your company: governance, business model, and environmental and working practices; with all the required information, completing the assessment typically takes about 3 hrs.
This process is designed to be rigorous, but do not worry! Try to gather the highest possible number of best practices or policies related to your company. As you fill out the Assessment, you will find examples of similar companies, to which you can compare with in different areas.
Submit your results.
2. REVIEW YOUR SCORE
Once you’ve completed the assessment, staff will contact you to answer any questions you may have and also to report your overall score. You may apply to certification if your score is above 80 out of the 200 points available.
Submit supporting documentation.
4. MAKE IT OFFICIAL
Sign the term sheet, where B Corps’ rights and duties are specified. Your company has now officially joined the certified B Corp Community.
5. CHANGE YOUR STATUTES
Change your statutes so that workers, the community, and the environment become part of your company’s decision-making.
6. SUBMIT PAYMENT
Submit the B Corporation Annual Certification Fee. This fee may fluctuate within the pricing structure depending on the company’s reported annual revenue.
Since July 1st, 2013, the annual fees are the following:
